Boys’ Tennis
The Spartan boys’ tennis team beat South St. Paul and Academy of Holy Angels 7-0 in the first two rounds of Section 4A competition. On Monday, May 19, they defeated MPA 7-0 to capture the Section 4A Title for the fifth year in a row. In individual competition, our doubles pairs Jacob Colton ‘25/Ben Macedo ‘25 and Allan Wang ‘26/Isaak Senaratna ‘27 and singles player Winston Arvidson ‘28 also qualified for the Class A Individual State Tournament. The individuals went on to sweep the podium as well! Winston clinched the singles State Champion title. Isaak and Allan were crowned doubles State Champions after beating their Spartan counterparts, Jacob and Ben, in a hard fought battle in the championship round. Track & Field
In the track & field section prelim meet on Thursday, May 29, several Spartans moved on to qualify for the section final meet on Saturday, May 31, and the State meet in June. Events are listed below:
- Elizabeth Tuttle ’26 (state qualifier): 100m and 300m hurdles
- Oliver Thompson ’25 and Langston Thompson ’27 (state qualifiers): 400m
- Clare Ryan Bradley ’26 and Roman Hozalski ’27: 200m
- Paloma Good ’27, Maren Overgaard ’26, and Sophie Kannapiran ’28: 800m
- Good, Kannapiran, Overgaard, and Ryan Bradley: 4×400 relay
- Hozalski, L. Thompson, Isaac Broderius ’27, and Nico Martin ’27: 4×400 relay
The Spartans went on to have a strong showing at the Class A State Tournament on June 11th at STMA. The nine Spartan qualifiers clocked personal best finishes, and two Spartans finished first in three events! Elizabeth Tuttle ’26 claimed the State Championship title in both the 100m and 300m hurdles, and Oliver Thompson ’25 finished with a new school record and State Championship title in the 400m! The boys’ 4×400 relay team of Langston Thompson, Oliver Thompson, Roman Hozalski, Nico Martin, AND Sophie Kannapiran also brought home some hardware! The relay finished 4th overall and Kannapiran 8th in the 800m.
