Girls' Nordic Relay and Individuals Qualify For State

Eleanor Mody/Inga Wing 2024 State Qualifiers

After a great race at the Section 3A Nordic championship meet on February 6, members of SPA’s girls’ Nordic ski team qualified for the Minnesota State Nordic meet which will be held February 14-15 at Giants Ridge.

At the section meet, Inga Wing ’25 and Eleanor Mody ’27, won the section sprint relay by almost 40 seconds, and individually, Paloma Good ’27 finished 5th, Taylor Barkwell ’25 finished 7th, Maren Overgaard ’26 finished 8th, and Sophie Kannapiran ’28 finished 9th.

This is the fifth year that SPA has had at least one Spartan skiing at the State meet. Representing SPA at the state meet will be the relay team of Wing & Mody along with Good, Barkwell, Overgaard, and Kannapiran.

The team goes into the meet with strong experience at the State level. At the 2023 State meet, the conference champion sprint team of Helen Townley ’25 and Maren Overgaard came in second overall in the relay. In individual pursuit competition, finishers included Inga Wing (25th), Taylor Barkwell (42nd), Paloma Good (62nd), Alyda Overgaard ’28 (77th), and Eleanor Mody (105th).

Congratulations girls’ Nordic and go Spartans!
