2025 US Track & Field Program

2025 Highlights

In the track & field section prelim meet on Thursday, May 29, several Spartans moved on to qualify for the section final meet on Saturday, May 31, and the State meet in June. Events are listed below:

  • Elizabeth Tuttle ’26 (state qualifier): 100m and 300m hurdles
  • Oliver Thompson ’25 and Langston Thompson ’27 (state qualifiers): 400m
  • Clare Ryan Bradley ’26 and Roman Hozalski ’27: 200m
  • Paloma Good ’27, Maren Overgaard ’26, and Sophie Kannapiran ’28: 800m 
  • Good, Kannapiran, Overgaard, and Ryan Bradley: 4×400 relay
  • Hozalski, L. Thompson, Isaac Broderius ’27, and Nico Martin ’27: 4×400 relay

The Spartans went on to have a strong showing at the Class A State Tournament on June 11th at STMA. The nine Spartan qualifiers clocked personal best finishes, and two Spartans finished first in three events! Elizabeth Tuttle ’26 claimed the State Championship title in both the 100m and 300m hurdles, and Oliver Thompson ’25 finished with a new school record and State Championship title in the 400m! The boys’ 4×400 relay team of Langston Thompson, Oliver Thompson, Roman Hozalski, Nico Martin, AND Sophie Kannapiran also brought home some hardware! The relay finished 4th overall and Kannapiran 8th in the 800m.

The Spartan track and field program finished a phenomenal year with tremendous growth across all events! There were many highlights in the Section Meet, including the following medalists:

The top two finishers in each event advance to the Single A State Meet. An impressive number of 9 athletes competed at State on June 6th & 7th, including: 

  • Girls 4×800 Relay: Sophie Kannapiran ’28, Clare Ryan Bradley ’26, Paloma Good ’27 & Maren Overgaard ’26
  • Boys 4×400 Relay: Roman Hozalski ’27, Langston Thompson ’27, Nico Martin ’27 & Oliver Thompson ’25
  • 100m and 300m hurdles: Elizabeth Tuttle ’26
  • 400m: Oliver Thompson ’25
  • 800m: Paloma Good ’27
  • Long Jump: Clare Ryan Bradley ’26

SPA had a strong showing in the IMAC Conference Meet! Congratulations to the Girls 4×800 team of Taylor Barkwell ’25, Paloma Good ’27, Carys Hardy ’24, Maren Overgaard ’26 for capturing first place at the IMAC Relays in a time of 10:25.29 10. Overall the girls finished in fourth place and the boys captured fifth | Click here for all meet results.

At the section track and field championship meet, multiple Spartans ran their best times of the year and freshman Elizabeth Tuttle ‘26 qualified for the State meet after finishing in first place in the long jump (setting a school record of 17’7”) and second in the 100 (15:31) & 300 (47:74) meter hurdles. Additional top five finishes at sections included Julia Taylor ‘25 who placed fourth in the long jump (16’3.25″), Oliver Thompson ‘25 who placed third in the 400-meter dash (51:90), and Tuttle who finished third in the triple jump (35’2″). 

At State, Tuttle landed a spot on the podium finishing third in the long jump (17’2”) and qualified for the finals in the 100-meter dash after finishing in seventh place in the opening heat. In the State final, Elizabeth placed sixth overall.
