2026-2026 Highlights
The Spartan Nordic ski program delivered a historic 2025-26 season, highlighted by championship performances at every level. The girls’ team captured IMAC Conference and Section 3A titles before claiming the program’s first-ever Class A Team State Championship at Giants Ridge on February 12, 2026.
Individually, Eleanor Mody ’27 delivered an outstanding performance throughout the postseason. After earning both the IMAC Conference and Section 3A individual championships, she finished third overall in the state field. Teammate Paloma Good ’27 also turned in a top finish at the State Meet, placing sixth overall.
In the sprint relay, Maren Overgaard ’26 and Alyda Overgaard ’28 raced to a State Championship after winning both the Conference and Section titles. The victory marked Maren’s second consecutive sprint relay state title.
On the boys’ side, Darien Hull ’28 and Sam Hilton ’27 made history as the first Spartan duo to qualify for the boys state sprint relay, earning IMAC Conference and Section 3A championships and finishing sixth at the Class A State Meet.

SPA’s girls’ Nordic team had a great performance at the Minnesota State Nordic Championship meet, held on February 12-13, at Giant’s Ridge. The sprint team of Maren Overgaard ’26 and Inga Wing ’25 came in first place in the relay sprint race with a time of 16:16.23 and 159 total points. Overall the team placed eighth, and individual finishes included Eleanor Mody ’27 (21st), Sophie Kannapiran ’28 (44th), Paloma Good ’27 (55th), Alyda Overgaard ’28 (64th), and Elisabeth Hilton ’30 (104th).Â

After a great race at the Section 3A Nordic championship meet on February 6, members of SPA’s girls’ Nordic ski team qualified for the Minnesota State Nordic meet which will be held February 14-15 at Giants Ridge.
At the section meet, Inga Wing ’25 and Eleanor Mody ’27, won the section sprint relay by almost 40 seconds, and individually, Paloma Good ’27 finished 5th, Taylor Barkwell ’25 finished 7th, Maren Overgaard ’26 finished 8th, and Sophie Kannapiran ’28 finished 9th.Â
This is the fifth year that SPA has had at least one Spartan skiing at the State meet. At the State meet, the sprint team of Inga Wing and Eleanor Mody skied onto the podium with a second-place finish. In the individual pursuit competition, finishers included Paloma Good (36th); Taylor Barkwell (39th); Maren Overgaard (51st), and Sophie Kannapiran (72nd).

The girls’ Nordic team had a strong showing at the State meet on February 15-16. The sprint team of Helen Townley ’25 and Maren Overgaard ’26 came in second and in the individual pursuit competition, finishers included Inga Wing ’25 (25th), Taylor Barkwell ’25 (42nd), Paloma Good ’27 (62nd), Alyda Overgaard ’28 (77th), and Eleanor Mody ’27 (105th). Congratulations to the entire team on a great season!

Girls’ Nordic Team Qualifies for State Meet for Third Year in a Row
After a top-two finish at the Section 3A Nordic championship meet on February 7, SPA’s girls’ Nordic ski team has qualified for the Minnesota State Nordic meet after finishing only 6 points behind Highland Park. At the section meet, Maren Overgaard ’26 and Helen Townley ’25 won the section sprint relay by almost 40 seconds, and individually, Inga Wing ’25 finished 5th, Taylor Barkwell ’25 finished 7th, and Paloma Good ’27 finished 9th overall. This is the third year in a row that the girls’ nordic team has qualified for the state meet, and the fourth year that SPA has had at least one Spartan skiing at the State meet. (Wing qualified for the 2020 State meet as a seventh-grader, placing 34th in her first State competition).
Skiing for the Spartans at the State meet, which will be held February 15-16 at Giants Ridge, will be Taylor Barkwell, Paloma Good, Alyda Overgaard ’28, Maren Overgaard, Eleanor Mody ’27, Helen Townley, and Inga Wing. Alternates include Sila Liljedahl ’23 and Johanna Pierach ’25.
The team goes into the meet with strong experience at the State level. At the 2022 State meet, the sprint team of Helen Townley and Maren Overgaard came in fifth, and in individual pursuit competition, finishers included Inga Wing (15th), Taylor Barkwell (50th), Eleanor Mody (100th), Marie Schumacher ’22 (104th), and Johanna Pierach (107th).
