Girls' Nordic Skiing Wins IMAC Championship, Taylor Barkwell '25 Named Individual Conference Champ

Congratulations to SPA’s girls’ nordic ski team which won the IMAC Conference Championship on Wednesday, February 1 at Theodore Wirth Park.

The victory was a true team effort for the Spartans who secured first place in the relay events after sweeping the top three spots on the podium. SPA was led by Taylor Barkwell ’25 who placed first and was also named the 2023 Girls’ IMAC Champion! Other scoring skiers in the top 10 included Paloma Good ’27 in 2nd place, Alyda Overgaard ’28 in 3rd place, and Johanna Pierach ’25 in 7th place.

In the team relays, SPA captured first place in both boys’ and girls’ events. Congratulations to the teams of Jack O’Brien ’23/Thomas Kovarik ’25 and Maren Overgaard ’26/Helen Townley ’25 who defended their relay title. See the full results here.

“I am really proud of our team’s effort and resiliency,” says Head Coach Max Lundgren. “This group stepped up for one another and competed at a really high level. We are excited to build on this in preparation for the section meets.”
