Spartan Winter Sports Postseason: 2024-2025

Girls’ basketball received the #11 seed in Section 4AA and defeated the #14 seed, St. Paul Humboldt/Open World Learning in the opening round. The team fell in the second round to St. Croix Prep. | Bracket

All-Conference Honorable Mention: Amaya Obi-Walker ‘30 and Clare Ryan Bradley ‘26
Boys’ basketball defeated Nova 73-57 in the opening round of Section 4AA competition. They will play the #2 seed, St. Croix Lutheran, on Saturday, March 8, at 2 p.m. at St. Croix Lutheran. | Bracket

All-Conference Honorable Mention: John Grimsrud ‘27 and Nathan Rock ‘25
The 2025 MSHSL Alpine Skiing State Meet took place at Giant’s Ridge on February 11, and Caden Burns ’25 earned the title of State Champion after a great performance at the meet, finishing in first place with a combined run time of 1:12.97. Other results from the State Meet included: Liam Burns ’28, who finished in 12th place (out of 88 boys), and Sophia Wenberg ’29, who finished in 14th place out of 87 girls.

SPA’s girls’ Nordic team had a great performance at the Minnesota State Nordic Championship meet, held on February 12-13, at Giant’s Ridge. The sprint team of Maren Overgaard ’26 and Inga Wing ’25 came in first place in the relay sprint race with a time of 16:16.23 and 159 total points. Overall the team placed eighth, and individual finishes included Eleanor Mody ’27 (21st), Sophie Kannapiran ’28 (44th), Paloma Good ’27 (55th), Alyda Overgaard ’28 (64th), and Elisabeth Hilton ’30 (104th).

Boys’ hockey received the #4 seed in Section 4A and fell in the opening round to the #5 seed Simley 3-1. | Bracket

Girls’ Hockey (Co-Op Hosted at Blake)
Girls’ hockey received the #3 seed in Section 4A and defeated the #6 seed Visitation in the opening round. They fell in the semifinals to the #2 seed South St. Paul 3-2. | Bracket

The Section 6AA championship meet took place the weekend of February 28. Despite multiple personal bests, no student-athletes from SPA advanced to the State meet.
The Minnesota High School Fencing Championships took place on Saturday, February 22, and Sunday, February 23 at Mankato State University. Congratulations to our fencers on a great season!
